Do You Want To Write A Book?
Do you have a message to share with the world? Have you been through some life challenges and overcame them and now you want to help others? Or have you got a great story and your itching to get it out and publish your own book?
Let me be honest, writing a book was one of the hardest things I ever did. And for some crazy reason, I decided to write a second one, which I'm working on now. And boy it's a long journey.
However, it's been one of the BEST things I have ever done. Not because it boosts the ego and I certainly don't think I have sussed yet or know it all. But because of the feedback and thank you messages I get to read.
Over the last couple of years, I've received thousands and to see people change their lives is priceless!
Listen to this week's podcast if you want to write a book and learn how I did it!
Whether you are, a social entrepreneur, a social impact leader, a visionary, a powerful change agent, a revolutionary, or a thought-leader, now is the time to sit down and write your book.
The challenges most authors face are common. We all go through similar stuff. Here are some of the limiting thoughts that I often hear when people tell me they want to write a book but don't know where to start or get frustrated because they don't finish their masterpiece:
"I’m not sure how to structure my book". Most people tell me they know what to say but not sure how to say it. They often comment, will it even make sense! When you understand how to structure your book it takes out so much fear, anxiety and overwhelms.
"I lack the motivation to do it alone," So many people say to they want to write to write a book someday, but don't have the time right now. Yet they spend hours scrolling on social media and watching shit on Netflix! Bottom line, they are too distracted and can never find the time to write because they waste it. To be honest there is never a perfect time to write. You have to commit to writing and make it your MUST!
"I procrastinate and don’t know where to start" This really tripped me in my writing career. Procrastination is the killer that stops me dead in my tracks! I'd rather watch the butterflies flitter past my balcony, drink matcha tea in coffee shops, or play football on the beach. Over time, I came to realise we can beat procrastination when we know how.
"I don’t know how to publish my book" I get the same question time and time agin "Brett how did you get a publisher?" Let me be really honest with you here. I did three things most people. 1, I created a vision and never focused on how I just believed and trusted it would happen. 2, I blagged it all the way until my book was on the bookshelf, 3, I had my fairy book mother as my cheerleader coaching me all the way.
"I haven’t found my voice as an author yet" To be honest, this is a trick I'm still figuring that one out and I'm on my second book. Anyway, it takes time, but one thing I know for sure it's harder to learn this while you are doing it on your own. Hence I recommend Sasha's program highly!
"I don’t know how to create a finished product". Tell me about it! It's like you get halfway through and the monkey-mind tells you to give up or start something else. The finishing line is always the hardest. Keep going, stay focused, you go this, you can do it and the world needs to read your story.
